The candidates, supporters garlanded the statue of chhatrapati shivaji maharaj.[:hi]रायगड जिल्हा परिषद व पनवेल पंचायत समितीच्या सार्वत्रिक निवडणूकीसाठी पनवेलमध्ये भारतीय जनता पार्टी-आरपीआय युतीने हजारों कार्यकर्त्यांच्या साक्षीने जोरदार शक्तीप्रदर्शन व जयघोष करीत आज उमेदवारी अर्ज दाखल करून जिल्हा परिषद व पंचायत समितीवर झेंडा फडविण्यासाठी सज्ज झाल्याचे दाखवून दिले. रायगड जिल्ह्याचे पालकमंत्री प्रकाश महेता, माजी खासदार लोकनेते रामशेठ ठाकूर, भाजपाचे रायगड जिल्हाध्यक्ष आमदार प्रशांत ठाकूर, भाजपा प्रदेश कार्यकारिणी सदस्य बाळासाहेब पाटील, आरपीआयचे जिल्हाध्यक्ष जगदिश गायकवाड यांच्या प्रमुख उपस्थितीत उमेदवारांनी प्रांत कार्यालयात निवडणूक निर्णय अधिकारी यांच्याकडे आपले अर्ज सादर केले. पनवेल तालुका व शहर भाजपाच्या मध्यवर्ती कार्यालयात महापुरूषांच्या पुतळयास अभिवादन करून उमेदवारांच्या ऱ्यालीला ढोलताशाच्या गजरात व फटाक्यांच्या आतषबाजीत सुरूवात झाली. यावेळी हजारो कार्यकर्त्यांच्या मिरवणूकीने 'भारत माता की जय', 'भारतीय जनता पार्टी आरपीआयचा विजय असो’, ‘जय भवानी जय शिवाजी', 'डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर यांचा विजय असो’, ‘लोकनेते रामशेठ ठाकूर आमदार प्रशांत ठाकूर आगे बढो हम तुम्हारे साथ है’, अशा गगनभेदी घोषणा देऊन संपूर्ण पनवेल दणाणून सोडले.[:] 1
